About
A community paddle, growing into an institution.
Blake and Sara raced up and down the coast, the South Bay Paddle, the Waterman's Challenge, and kept noticing the same gap: there were no real open-ocean distance races between LA and San Diego. So they built one, on the most scenic route they could find, their favorite local paddle.
What began as an 8.7-mile paddle to Salt Creek is now a 12.5-mile open-ocean test from El Moro to Capo Beach, with the Bird Rock gate and the Three Arch Bay isthmus run built in. Prone divisions plus SUP, a 7:30 AM beach start (7:00 AM check-in), and a beach finish at Capo Beach in Dana Point.
It stays grassroots on purpose. Blake sets it up, Sara runs sign-in, and the field grows year over year. It's the scenic distance race that fills the gap between LA and San Diego, a real open-ocean distance test, with a community heart.
The vision from here: permits, safety plan, sponsors, and a photo/video engine that turns race morning into next year's start line, a permitted, sponsored SoCal institution and a fixture on the summer calendar.

Volunteer on race morning
A grassroots race runs on people who show up. We can always use hands at sign-in, the start, and the Capo Beach finish, a couple of hours, a great view, and you're part of it.
